As part of its commitment to support local community groups and educational entities, McDonald’s Saipan donated $5,000 to the Northern Marianas Trades Institute’s 2nd Gala, which will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

“Since 2008, NMTI has been providing our community with trades education in areas critically needed,” said Marcia Ayuyu, owner of JCA Inc., which operates McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan. “As a stakeholder, we feel the school is making strides in the right direction. We just wanted to be a part of the growth by making an investment into their fundraiser.”

Agnes M. McPhetres, CEO of NMTI, said the annual gala is bigger and better than last year’s.

“This year we’ve added an auction to the night’s activities. We will be auctioning student-built furniture from recycled pallets. The prizes are good as or better than the year before. We thank McDonald’s and the Ayuyu family for continuing to open their hearts to us,” said McPhetres.

NMTI continues to preach that trades education can only be done through hands-on education. In line with this, funds generated at this year’s gala will be used to build a “mock hotel room and restaurant” that will provide students in the Hotel & Restaurant program a greater hands-on experience before moving on to the hotels.

Gala tickets are priced at $100 per person and can be bought by calling Ross Manglona at (670) 322-6684 or Julie Manglona at (670) 783-7682. (PR)
