Fans of anime, K-pop, or those just into the latest trends will be delighted as Fun Max is open to maximize anyone’s fun without searching too far and stretching their budget through a wide range of affordable items that can be used at home, work, play, or as gifts.

Opened last Oct. 1 at the former Iridescent store, next to Boarderline located in the Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center in Garapan, Fun Max is stocked and ready just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Fun Max manager Jay Li said that the inspiration for the shop is that he feels it’s “difficult to look for gifts when it’s a friend’s or family member’s birthday or Christmas.”

Gashapon toy-vending machines that dispense tiny figurines of different anime, manga, or cartoon characters for $2 to $5 a pop, only available at Fun Max located next to Boarderline in the Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center. (LEIGH GASES)

“Our stuff is following the trend, it’s new, special, and interesting,” said Li about the shop’s items.

One fun interactive feature in the store is the Gashapon or capsule toy-vending machine which is visible from the entrance.

Eighteen vending machines with various tiny figurines of different anime, manga, or cartoon characters are dispensed when fed with tokens available from the money to the token changer next to the machine. What you get is a surprise and is sure to be worth the $2 to $5 price range.

Some of the items available in the shop include figurines from the Japanese manga/anime series One Piece, Naruto, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Pokemon, and others, along with Funko Pops of various characters, cartoon and game characters, Marvel superheroes, mystery boxes, keychains, stationary items, stuffed toys, clothing, backpacks, puzzles, and posters, among others.

A variety of items big and small also sees a wide range of prices—with the cheapest item at $2 to the most expensive item at $300.

Specifically for the anime and K-pop-themed clothing, the price range is from $28 to $56, while the backpacks range from $30 to $48. For the figurines, the price range is from $5 to $80 and the different sized stuffed toys range from $8 to $85.

Black Friday last November saw the whole shop at 20% off, and with the ongoing holiday shopping season, a Christmas sale on selected items is set from Dec. 21 to 24. Operation hours are from 10am to 8pm daily.

Along with bringing new items to the shop, Li said that they are open to suggestions from customers and may be able to bring what they suggest.
