Lady Blues and Matansa Sparks finished in the Top 2 after the elimination round games in the 2014 SSS Christmas Youth Futsal Tournament to arrange their title duel in the girls U15 division.

Lady Blues took the No. 1 spot and the first finals berth after completing the double-round robin elimination with a 5-0-1 win-draw-loss record, while Matansa ended up with a 4-1-1 slate.

Incidentally, Matansa handed Lady Blues its lone loss in the elimination after eking out a 3-2 victory last Friday.

Angel Sally scored two goals in the close win that also avenged Matansa’s 4-2 loss to Lady Blues in their first meeting on Dec. 27. Pinyarat Shankweiler nailed the other goal in Matansa’s victory over Lady Blues, which drew one goal apiece from Negahr Rastguiy and De Jana Muna in the second half.

Lady Blues went on to bounce back from its first loss last Saturday after beating Orange Rangers, 5-1.

Diana Maniacop started things out for Lady Blues, as she knocked in a pair of goals in the first half. Her three teammates then stepped up in the second half as Katherine Magat, Muna, and Jobelle Tabuena scored one goal each to complete the easy win.

Pauline Joyce Grace hit the lone goal for Orange Rangers, who finished the elimination round winless in six games.

In the other girls U15 match last Saturday, Matansa downed Girly Flowers & Rainbows, 5-2.

Again, Sally was at the forefront of Matansa’s attack, as this time she had a hat-trick against Girly Flowers & Rainbows. She recorded the two goals in the second half to foil Girly Flowers & Rainbows’ upset bid after the first half ended in a tie, 2-2.

Shankweiler registered the other goal for Matansa in the second half, while Bernadette Horey also nailed one goal in the first frame. Gilliam Villagomez and Guinevere Borja lit up the board in the first half to keep Girly Flowers & Rainbows in the game.

Meanwhile, the Matansa-Lady Blues’ winner-take-all finale will be played this Saturday at 5:30pm. The two other division title matches—the co-ed U12 and boys U15—are also scheduled this weekend at 4:30pm and 6:30pm, respectively.
