Matansa Football Club barged into the win column of the boys U18 division of the 2014 NMIFA Fall League after downing Paire Football Club, 4-1, last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

Ryu Tanzawa recorded a hat-trick to help Matansa bounce back from a 0-2 start. Matansa began the season with a 0-10 loss to Tan Holdings FC before bowing to MP United in its second game, 2-4.

Tanzawa drilled his first goal in the 11th minute, while David Mafnas also scored in the first half (39th) to lift Matansa to a 2-0 halftime lead.

Young Hyun Ryou made it a 1-2 tally after ending Paire’s drought with his goal in the 49th minute, but Matansa got the one goal back with Tanzawa scoring anew in the 76th minute. The Matansa striker was not done yet and got his third goal four minutes later to seal it for Matansa and hand Paire its second loss in as many games. Paire dropped its opener against Tan Holdings, 0-1.

MP United 5, Tan Holdings 2
In the other U18 match last weekend, MP United outclassed Tan Holdings FC.

MP United got into the grove in the second half after a standoff in the first 45 minutes of play to get its second win in as many games and take the early division lead. Tan Holdings FC slid to second after falling to a 2-1 record.

Daniel Lim led MP United’s second-half assault, scoring the team’s last two goals. Scott Kim and Tanapon Unsa also hit the board in the second half, while Kennedy Izuka posted the team’s first goal in the opening half. Chloe Salvosa made it a 2-0 advantage seven minutes, while a Karleen Reyes goal in the 22 nd minute moved MP United within one.
