Matansa shuts out Sun Palace

Jeongwook Hwang drilled a pair of goals for the division leader, scoring his first in the opening half, which ended with Matansa way ahead, 4-0. Jonathan Nogis, Abdul Halim, and Amzad Khan also hit the board for Matansa in the first half.

In the second half, Hwang also kicked off Matansa’s scoring, while Tej Gurung tallied the team’s last goal. Matansa gained its fifth win.

In other Division 2 matches this week, the Thundercats also notched a shutout win over World Resort, 3-0, while Kanoa Resort prevailed against Shirley’s, 4-2.

Cosmos Kim led the Thundercats victory over World Resort last Sunday, firing twin goals, which all came in the second half. Yong Jun Jeon registered the other goal for the Thundercats, as he found the back of the net in the first half.

In the Kanoa-Shirley’s tussle, Davy Laxa stood out for the former with his two goals, while Owen Ji and Louie Calayag contributed one goal apiece. Ji put Kanoa in the board, while Laxa also scored in the first half, which wrapped up with the opposing teams in a standoff, 2-all. Shirley’s forced a tie after the first 45 minutes of play as Kosuke Sato and Fradel Sedillo logged one goal each.

Laxa broke the deadlock early in the second half, while Calayag made the insurance.

In Division 1, Inter Godfather’s whipped Korean Football Association on Saipan, 7-1.

Chris Nelson was on target in Inter Godfather’s demolition of KFAS, nailing four goals. He had back-to-back goals in the first half, logging his first in the 30th and the second eight minutes later to lift Inter Godfather’s to a 4-1 advantage. Rick Seo and Nigel Leahy recorded the two other goals for Inter Godfather’s, while Mikky Kim gave KFAS its lone goal in the first half.

In the second half, Nelson was still at it, earning two more in consecutive fashion, as he got his third in the 70th and the fourth three minutes later. Ryu Tanzawa completed Inter Godfather’s domination with his goal in the 78th minute.

In the other Division 1 match, pacesetter Tan Holdings bounced back from a loss to MP United with a 2-0 victory against Paire.

Martin Jambor and Sean Perez knocked in one goal apiece for Tan Holdings, which gained its sixth win in seven games.

Meanwhile, Tan Holdings won the lone game played in the Dove Women’s Football League, as it topped MP United, 5-0.

Chloe Salvosa had a hat-trick for Tan Holdings, which drew one goal each from Jennifer Perena and Renita Fleming.

Shirley’s and Independents FC won the two other matches via default against Paire and Matansa, respectively.
