Matansa Football Club recovered from a so-so performance in the first two weeks of the 2012 NMIFA Men’s Spring League after clobbering Shirley’s FC, 7-1, last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

Matansa, which had a draw and loss in its first two matches, drew a hat-trick from Dhiraj Chhetri to prevail in the battle of winless teams. Shirley’s absorbed its third loss in as many games.

Aji Mandampala, Rangit Bairagi, and Kamrul contributed one goal apiece and Matansa got a goal off Shirley’s error late in the first half for a 5-1 lead at the break. Taro Goto nailed Shirley’s only goal in the match at the 12:33 mark, cutting Matansa’s lead to two, 1-3. Mandampala, Bairagi, and Chhetri scored the first three goals for Matansa and the latter added one more past the halfway mark of the first half.

KFAS 3, SKY 3

In the second game at the Oleai pitch, Korean Football Association on Saipan and SKY engaged in a draw.

Young Ha Hwang and Guang Lin Li scored in the 17th and 21st minute, respectively to power SKY to a 2-0 halftime lead. However, SKY collapsed defensively in the second half, allowing KFAS to force a draw late in the game off Dae Min Jeon’s hat-trick

Jeon broke KFAS’ long silence with his goal in the 85th minute. He made another one two minutes later to equalize and then nailed his third goal a minute later to put KFAS in the lead.

Then one minute before the match ended, Hang Guo Piao saved SKY as he scored the game-tying goal.

With the draw, KFAS and SKY remained winless with the former having two draws and one loss and the latter earning one draw and a defeat.

Wild Bill’s 1, Inter Godfather’s 0

In the third game, Wild Bill’s gained a share of the lead with Tan Holdings (2-0-0 win-draw-loss record) after outclassing Inter Godfather’s.

Adul Detdon posted the lone goal in the game in the 21st minute to keep Inter winless in three matches. Inter’s first two games resulted in draws.

Tan Holdings 3, Shirley’s FC 0

Tan Holdings notched its second win in as many games after shutting out Shirley’s FC on March 21.

Panapa Peteru made twin goals for the co-leading team, while Jersh Angeles added one.

While Tan Holdings’ record is still undefeated in two games, Shirley’s has yet to win after three assignments.
