Matansa, MP United shut down foes

It was cruise control for MP United Football Club and Matansa FC as they dominated their respective opponents in the boys U17 division of the 2017 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.
MP United clobbered Kanoa FC in the second game, 11-0, while Matansa whipped TanHoldings in the curtain-raiser, 4-0.
Three players teamed up in handing Matansa its first win of the season after dropping its opener early this month against the unbeaten MP United. Brandon Delos Reyes and Louie Calayag scored one goal apiece, while Joshua De Leon made a pair. De Leon’s goals were all recorded in the second half with his first logged in the 55th minute and the second in the 70th. Delos Reyes drew first blood for Matansa with his conversion in the 35th minute, while Calayag found the back of the net two minutes later.
In the MP United-Kanoa lopsided match, Sunjoon Tenorio and Skyler Poon were unstoppable for the former. Tenorio knocked in five goals, three of them came in succession with the first posted in the 67th minute and the last two in the 69th and 70th. Tenorio’s two other goals were tallied in the sixth and 45th minute.
Poon duplicated Tenorio’s string of three goals in the second half, as he scored in the 49th, 51st, and 63rd minute. Poon earlier got his first goal in the 33rd minute, while Anthony Fruit and Joshua Abragan handed MP United one goal, lighting up the board in the second and 31st minute, respectively.
In other results in the boys U17 division, the National Developing Academy edged Paire, 2-1.
Joshua Galarion drilled the pair of goals for NDA with his first registered right in the second minute of the closely fought match. His second and last came in the 53rd minute, while Paire drew its lone goal from Royce Angelo Ben in the 30th.
GIRLS U15 DIVISION
Shirley’s 3, Kanoa 1
Defending champion Shirley’s made it three in a row after beating Kanoa at the Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Field last weekend.
Katherine Magat had a brace for the undefeated Shirley’s, while Valeria Myers chipped in one goal. Magat logged her pair of goals in the 37th and 40th minute, while Myers scored in the 10th. Kanoa avoided a shutout, thanks to Paulynn Joyce’s shot in the 25th minute.
Southern United 9, Matansa 0
Southern United crushed Matansa in the first game in the division last Saturday.
Jerlyn Castillo had a hat trick to lead Southern United’s easy win. She made back-to-back goals in the 25th and 26th minute and got her third in the 45th. Marinel Falamlimpa and Mariana Castro contributed two goals each, while Keisha Deleon Guerrero and Jenish Dubral chipped in one apiece.
MP United 4, TanHoldings 2
Stella McCallion powered MP United to a victory over TanHoldings in the last match in the division.
McCallion also had a hat trick, as she put MP United on the board right in the opening minute of the game and then dropped two more goals in the 40th and 57th. MP United’s other goal came from Audrey Castro in the 15th minute.
TanHoldings, on the other hand, drew one goal each from Mary Joy Aniana and Lovely Joy Loyola.
