Most Worshipful Grand Master (Ret.) P/C Supt. Tomas G. Rentoy III arrived on Saipan yesterday afternoon as part of his duty of visiting the lodges under the Grand Lodge of the Philippines. His aide accompanied him for the one-day trip.
Emon Lodge 179 past worshipful master Bong Malasarte, who is the current District Deputy GM of the Masonic District Overseas E, along with the current officers of the lodge, led by worshipful master Pepe R. Crisostomo, welcomed Rentoy at the Francisco C. Ada-Saipan International Airport.
Rentoy was supposed to be the special guest for this year’s installation of the elected and appointed officers of Emon Lodge 179, but his hectic schedule prevented him from attending the event held last Jan. 30 at the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort.
Rentoy, the current president of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1983, said he is just here to talk to the officers and members of the lodge. His next stop would be in Guam, which has three lodges.
“I just want to know how are things going on in the different lodges overseas. To communicate with the brethren, to join them for fellowship, and to know the concerns of their lodge. From there we could know what are the solutions with the things they raised,” said Rentoy.
Emon Lodge hosted a fellowship dinner last night at the Filcom Pavilion at the Civic Center Beach in Susupe.
Rentoy is scheduled to play golf at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort this morning before meeting up again with the Emon Lodge officers for lunch at the Aqua Resort Club. He leaves Saipan at 2pm today and will next visit Guam before returning to the Philippines.
He is set to step down as grand master and will be replaced by Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin in installation rites during the Masons’ Annual Communication in Tagaytay this year.
