The advance team from Marine Corps Forces Pacific arrived on Tinian this weekend and is now working with various officials and local contractors to prepare for their next big operation.

Operations officer Capt. Kevin Wheeler and his team met with Don Farrell, chief of staff of Tinian Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz, yesterday morning to define the immediate scope of work and make arrangements for local support.

Following a briefing in the Mayor of Tinian’s conference room, Farrell visited the harbor area with Wheeler to discuss the route that will be taken by Marine Corps vehicles as they leave the dock and proceed to West Field, where this iteration’s activities will take place.

The barge carrying the heavy equipment for clearing Runway Echo will be arriving on or about this Thursday, Aug. 28. (PR)
