After a long hiatus in international flights, visitors to the Marianas under the Tourism Investment Resumption Plan program are being welcomed at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport with indigenous dancers.

The Marianas Visitors Authority is rolling out the red carpet for the first international flights under the TRIP program, which provides incentives to travelers, airlines, and participating travel partners to gradually regrow the tourism industry in continued compliance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols which have kept the destination relatively unscathed by the pandemic.

“We are now two weeks into the TRIP program, and, thanks to the strict guidelines and careful overview of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and COVID-19 Task Force, we are pleased that all of our visitors have been able to enjoy their stay in the Marianas, arriving and leaving COVID-free,” said MVA managing director Priscilla M. Iakaopo. “While continuing to prioritize the safety of our community, we warmly welcome visitors to experience all that Saipan, Tinian, and Rota have to offer as a tourist destination, and our airport greetings are the first impression for that exciting experience.”

Indigenous Chamorro and Carolinian dances are performed for the weekly flights of T’Way on Thursdays and of Asiana Airlines and Jeju Air on Saturdays. Savannah Relox Delos Santos, the 2021 Miss Marianas, also greeted passengers on the first TRIP flight on July 24, 2021. (PR)
