Local art and culture promotion event “First Friday” is back again at Marianas Creations.
For the month of September, Marianas Creations will be collaborating with Everest Kitchen, with CNMI Next Top Chef 2017 winner, chef Laxmi Shrestha, making her traditional Nepalese dishes and some of her famous appetizers for the night.
Marianas Creations’s First Friday event on Sept. 3, 2021, at its location on Micro Beach Road, from 6pm to 12am, will also feature Ben “LamLam” San Nicolas and Primitiva Muña who will be singing their songs, said Elina Gharti Chhetri, owner of Marianas Creations.
San Nicolas is a Chamorro recording artist from Agat, Guam. He has recorded three albums—LamLam fields back Home, Papa Giya Hagat, and Expresacion Gi Togeta—and two new singles Fakmåta and Pångpång i Nåpu. Muña is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter-music artist who grew up in Inarajan, Guam. However, she has a strong connection to Saipan as her father is from Saipan. They will be performing for the crowd at First Friday.
Several artists, such as Martin Castro Jr., Jakie Fujuhira, James C. Bamba, Antonette Labausa, David and Lani Vinyard, Veronica Celia Mendez-Arriola, Greg Bacnis, and others will have their work and products available during the event.
In addition, Marianas Creations is introducing Steven Van Winkle’s woven artwork for display and purchase. His partner, Samisoni Pome’e, and their son, Gerald Mamis, will be representing the artwork and will weave a hat for one lucky participants of the night.
Marianas Creations will also be serving local drinks, craft beers, handcrafted cocktails, including local liquor from Mariana Breeze, local coffee from Marianas Coffee Co., local kombucha brewed by Conall Kennedy, and locally produced sodas.
Marianas Creations is currently soliciting for artists interested in showcasing their work to contact the shop. Additionally, they are seeking anyone who produces local products to contact the shop.
