The Mariana Trench Fishing and Seafood Festival will take place on Saturday, July 16, at Garapan Fishing Base beginning at 9am until 5pm. The festival is to celebrate the vast ocean environment of the CNMI. The ocean holds a bounty of activities for the people and businesses of the CNMI such as eco-tourism, fine dining, sports fishing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, and much, much more. The Mariana Trench Fishing and Seafood Festival aims to bring understanding to our community the innate health and economic benefits that will be created by having a healthy and ecologically sound ocean environment.

The CNMI enjoys an oceanic resource of 482,000 sq. miles. Our ocean waters are home to the Marianas Trench, which is about 1,580 miles long with an average width of only 43 miles the deepest part of the world’s oceans It reaches a maximum-known depth of 6.831 miles (36,070 ft.) and 36,201 ft. at the Challenger Deep.

Our seafood in the CNMI has been cultivated by our immense, pristine, and temperate ocean waters and the incomparable freshness, comes from the secreted nutrients found only in the depths of the Marianas Trench. Marianas seafood is utterly delicious and filled with protein, vitamins and vigorous nutrients found only in the deepest ocean waters. Our fresh fish is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can lower blood pressure and benefit brain and heart functions.

CGC will provide face painting for the kids and Kanoa Resort will supply a bouncing house for the kids.
