March will be designated ‘Women’s Month’
A proclamation recognizing March as “Women’s Month” and March 8 as “International Women’s Day” will be signed this Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10am at Bldg. 1346 (Women’s Affairs Office) on Capital Hill. All are welcome to join the proclamation signing and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Each March, the CNMI celebrates Women’s Month—a time to recognize, honor, and celebrate the lives, contributions and achievements of women to their communities. Across the nation, communities, school districts and organizations line up a series of activities and events to pay tribute to the women of our nation.
Spearheaded by the CNMI Women’s Association, the Office of the Special Assistant for Women’s Affairs, and their community partners, the month of March will feature a lineup of activities that will give emphasis on the call to include women’s concerns and issues in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda.
The International Women’s Day theme is “Press For Progress.” The CNMI has adopted “Press For Continued Progress” as its theme for 2018.
The CNMI Women’s Association is funded by the Community Services block grant, a sub-grant awarded by the Division of Youth Services under the Office of Community Services, Department of Health and Human Services, and awarded by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Division of Youth Services.
