Throughout the three-month span of the Challenge, participants from Saipan with Gold’s Gym trainers and/or on their own were challenged to transform their lives, and a chance to win their share of $5,000 in cash prizes. With 45 members participating at Gold’s Gym Saipan, the results were astounding.
Two-thirds of the contestants returned for their final assessment, shedding an amazing 468.2 lbs. For these contestants the average weight loss was an incredible 16.7 lbs or 9 percent of their original body weight.
“We could not be more proud of our Challenge winners for their tremendous success, and are thrilled to have played a role in their transformations,” said Tyce Mister, general manager of Gold’s Gym Saipan.
An awards banquet was held on Saturday, May 14, at the Kanoa Resort. Maratita, 2016 Challenge Overall Winner, who shed 44.5 lbs shared, “This Challenge has given me the opportunity to reevaluate my life for my family. It has given me time to reflect on how life is way too precious to see it go to waste…These past (12) weeks have been one heck of a journey for me. I have come to realize who I am, what I am capable of doing, and where I need to continue to go. This challenge was not a competition with the rest of the challengers. My true competitor was me to be the best I can for my Shannon (daughter).”
Rob Epley, winner of the Men’s 40+ category shared, “The best way to get positive results in life is to be surrounded by positive and motivated people. The Gold’s Gym staff has been that positive support group for me during the Challenge. Jerry Diaz has been my personal trainer during the Challenge. He meets me at the gym at 5:3am, every Monday and Wednesday to guide, teach and inspire me. The entire Gold’s Gym staff is always ready with a kind word, compliment, or smile.”
Jake Deleon Guerrero was honored with the “Most Inspirational” award. Last year Deleon Guerrero was paralyzed in a devastating car accident. He stated, “I want to inspire others to take on the challenges they face in life, because we truly only have one life to live. I was given a second chance in life, and all I can do is hope that when others hear of my story, they learn from my experience and make a positive change in themselves.”
