Manibusan qualifies in SGA Ace of Aces

CNMI Attorney General Ed Manibusan topped the Saipan Golfers Association’s May Ace of the Month Tournament to earn a spot to the club championship.

Manibusan shot a net 69 for a two-stroke win over Tony Deleon Guerrero and Jung Eun Teack in the competition played last May 19 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

The 6-handicapper Manibusan tallied a 37 in the first nine holes and a 38 in the last nine for a gross 75. With his close win, he will join Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (January Ace), Steve Balakrishna (February Ace), Joe I. Sablan (March Ace), and John “Nanni” Cruz (April Ace) in the SGA Ace of Aces, which will be played at the end of the season with seven slots left in the club championship.

Meanwhile, Deleon Guerrero, a 14-handicapper, recorded a 44 and 41 on the front and back nines for a gross 85 and won the tiebreak for second place via the scorecard playoff. Teack, who had a 13 handicap, carded a 43 on the front and 41 on the back for a gross 84.

In other results, Juan Diaz and Rick Kautz won the longest drive contest on holes No. 7 and 11, respectively. Kautz also prevailed in the closest to the pin competition on Nos. 8 and 15, while Joe Sablan and Tony Deleon Guerrero prevailed on No. 6 and No. 12, respectively. (Saipan Tribune)
