Former Superior Court Presiding Judge Edward Manibusan clinched the Saipan Golf Association August Ace of the Month to earn a spot in SGA’s finale tournament set in January 2015.

James Nelson actually topped the August 31 event at the Marianas Country Club Golf Course, but he already won the SGA February Ace.

Manibusan, who is one of SGA’s founders and the group’s handicap director, placed second to claim the August Ace, while Rick Kautz finished third. Scores were not available at press time.

Manibusan now joins SGA Ace of the Month winners Nick Sablan (January), Nelson (February), Alex Tudela (March), Das Krishnan (April), Frances Sablan (May), Greg Sablan (June) and Jung Eun Teack (July).

Closest to the pin winners were Juan L. Babauta (Hole No. 6), Greg Sablan (Hole No. 8) and Juan Pan Guerrero (Hole No. 16). Juan Babauta (Hole No. 2) and Kautz (Hole No. 11) were the longest drives winners.

The SGA-organized tournaments will continue with the September Ace on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Course. Show time is at 9:30am with the opening tee starting 30 minutes after. (Jon Perez)
