U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona has granted the request of the U.S. Probation Office to delay the sentencing of a former officer at the Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles and three co-defendants in the driver’s license scam case.
Manglona ordered that the sentencing hearing for William A. Hocog be continued from Sept. 26 to Nov. 4, 2011.
Manglona allowed the U.S. Probation Office to submit the pre-sentence investigation report on Sept. 20, 2011.
A former DPS BMV supervisor, Hocog had already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to unlawfully produce and transfer of an identification document. His three co-defendants had also pleaded guilty.
The sentencing of Hocog’s co-defendants, Hongmei Sun and Hui Qiang Yan, was also moved to Nov. 21, 2011, while Tahira Dolores Miah’s sentencing hearing will be on Nov. 4, 2011.
The original sentencing hearing for all four was Sept. 26, 2011.
U.S. Probation Officer Margarita Wonenberg asked the court to continue the sentencing hearing to allow her to complete the pre-sentence investigation reports.
Mohammad Jahangir Miah is the only remaining defendant in the case who has yet to plead guilty.
