Man who robbed poker arcade pleads guilty
Eric Nick Narruhn, a 28-year-old man who disguised himself as a woman to rob the Star Poker in Chalan Lau Lau in January pleaded guilty yesterday to a theft charge as part of a plea deal.
He will be sentenced on July 22, 2015 at 9am.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho ordered the Office of the Adult Probation to prepare a presentence investigation report.
Narruhn appeared with his counsel, assistant public defender Matthew Meyer.
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds amended the suit yesterday to charge Narruhn with only one count of theft. The original information charged the defendant with robbery and disturbing the peace.
Hinds said the Office of the Attorney General asserts that it is in the best interest of the government to amend the information to charge Narruhn with theft.
“After careful review of the evidence and additional investigation conducted by the Office of the Attorney General, the Commonwealth believes that the evidence is insufficient to prove the original and remaining charges beyond a reasonable doubt as to the defendant,” Hinds said in the government’s request to amend the information.
Camacho granted the request. After filing the amended information, Narruhn and his counsel signed a plea agreement with the government.
According to the factual basis of the plea agreement, Narruhn stole $541 from Star Poker on Jan. 27, 2015.
A police report states that Narruhn’s wife, Realiza, who works as a cashier at Star Poker, identified her husband in the surveillance camera’s footage of the robbery.
Pangelinan said a patrol police officer responded on Jan. 27 at 6:11pm to a report of robbery in progress at Star Poker.
A police sergeant met with the cashier, Raquela Aldan, who reported that an unidentified man wearing a wig and with make up on robbed the establishment. The robber reportedly took $541 from the cashier’s box.
In an interview later with Narruhn, police said the defendant confessed rushing into the cashier’s booth and telling the cashier to keep still as it was a holdup.
Narruhn said he was armed with a toy knife.
