A man accused of beating up his girlfriend in front of their two children at their residence in Chalan Lau Lau pleaded guilty last week and was sentenced to six days in prison.
In his written order issued Thursday, Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Schneider Techur Lanzo to six months in prison, all suspended except for six days, with credit for the three days he has already spent in jail. He was set to be released from prison yesterday at 8am.
Lanzo will be placed on supervised probation for a year and required to perform 100 hours of community service, complete anger management counseling, submit to alcohol and drug assessment, and write a letter of apology to the victim.
Wiseman also ordered the defendant to pay a $300 fine, $25 court assessment fee, plus probation fee.
The 26-year-old Lanzo pleaded guilty to assault and battery.
According to the plea agreement, on May 3, 1011, on Saipan, Lanzo “unlawfully struck, beat, wounded, or otherwise caused bodily harm” to the victim.
A police report states that the victim was crying when a police officer arrived at the house. The officer observed that the victim had a scratch mark on the face and a small lump on the head.
According to the victim, she was putting her 7-month-old baby to sleep when Lanzo threw a pillow at her and punched her in the head. The victim bit Lanzo on the leg. He then slapped her several times in the face.
Their 1-year-old son and 7-month-old daughter were both crying during the attack.
