Man sentenced to a year in prison for beating wife
The Superior Court has sentenced a man to one year in prison for beating his wife, but he was allowed to only serve 18 days of his sentence.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho sentenced Bradley Palacios last Wednesday to a one-year imprisonment term on charges of domestic violence plus assault and battery. However, Palacios will only serve the first 18 days of his sentence day by day without the possibility of parole, early release, weekend release, or other similar program. The remainder of his sentence is suspended.
In addition, Palacios was also given credit for four days of time served.
After serving his sentence, Palacios will be placed on supervised probation for three years.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $100, court cost of $25 and a probation fee in the amount to be assessed by the Office of Adult Probation before the expiration of hi probation period.
Palacios has pleaded guilty to domestic violence, assault, and battery charges.
In his order, Camacho noted that the victim, Palacios’ wife, asked the court to allow her husband to serve his sentence on weekends for economic reasons.
The judge denied the victim’s request because, pursuant to the plea agreement, the defendant must serve the first 18 days of his sentence, day for day.
Palacios was immediately taken to the Department of Corrections so he could start serving his sentence
Palacios was initially charged with assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.
According to court documents, Palacios threatened to kill his wife during a heated argument.
The victim told police that prior to the incident, they were in her grandmother’s pickup truck on the way to the store.
She said when she reminded him he needed to fix the truck, Palacios got mad and took out a pair of pliers that he pointed at her and told her to stop or he was going to stab her.
When they arrived at the store, she said she got out of the truck, but Palacios was still mad and told her to get back in the truck,
Once at their apartment, she said Palacios told her to go inside or he would beat her up. Inside the apartment, while they continued to argue, she said Palacios took a kitchen knife and placed it on her throat. Palacios later left the apartment in the pickup truck.
She then called 9-11 and was advised to call back when Palacios returned.
Later that evening, when Palacios came back to the apartment, the wife called the police.
She said when Palacios entered their room, she stood up and walked out but he followed her and grabbed her. She said he held her tight to stop her from moving.
When she broke free, she ran toward the door, but she said Palacios pushed her from behind, causing her to hit her head on the door.
