Man pleads guilty to sex offense
A man pleaded guilty last Wednesday to the accusation that he pleasured himself in public in front of a woman’s window without her knowledge.
Robert S. Lacanlale informed the court last Wednesday that he would like to change his initial plea of not guilty to guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement between him and the prosecution.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho, however, did not accept Lacanlale’s plea because he wanted the opposing parties to elaborate on who the victim was in the case because the woman on the other side of the window was not aware of the incident but another person saw it and captured it on video.
Although Lacanlale’s lawyer, Jean Pierre Nogues of the Office of the Public Defender, insisted that it did not matter who the victim is because his client is voluntarily pleading guilty, Camacho said he would still move the matter to a later date for both parties to further explain the charges.
Camacho set the plea agreement hearing for June 26 at the Marianas Business Plaza.
According to the government, Lacanlale looked into the window of a woman who was not aware of his presence, exposed his genitals, and pleasured himself outside her window.
Lacanlale was later caught by another individual outside the residence who filmed the act and was allegedly streaming the video live.
