A man who allegedly beat his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s child back in April 2018 pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and battery last Thursday.

Vincent S. Camacho, 32, was initially charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, and interference with a domestic report.

According to the plea agreement, Camacho will be sentenced to five years in prison, with all but five months suspended. Camacho was also given credit for the five months he has already served.

Camacho will then be placed on three-year probation to run concurrently with his sentence in another case.

Camacho will also pay restitution of $1,727.24 to the victim for medical bills and related expenses.

Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan ordered Camacho to stay away from the victim and their children.

Camacho was also ordered not to drink alcohol or use illegal drugs. In pleading guilty, he also agreed to submit to random testing of his blood, breath, or urine at any time.

At the change of plea hearing on Thursday, Camacho was represented by Shelly O’ Neal, while assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

According to Saipan Tribune archives, Camacho was arrested for beating his girlfriend and her child who tried to stop him from beating another woman.

A police officer responded to an assault and battery incident in Chalan Kanoa last April 15, at 11:54pm.

The officer met with a woman who claimed that her boyfriend, Camacho, beat her up and another person.

The officer learned that there was a small gathering at the residence of Camacho’s girlfriend in As Perdido. Camacho allegedly threw a can of beer at a woman’s face, causing her to fall.

Camacho then began hitting the woman’s head with a plastic chair and a cassette recorder. The report did not specify how Camacho is related to the woman.

Camacho’s girlfriend tried to stop him, but instead he slammed his girlfriend on the floor.

A 15-year-old child of Camacho’s girlfriend also tried to stop Camacho from beating the woman. Camacho, however, also allegedly slammed the child to the floor.

Later, Camacho also tried to punch the woman’s son, who tried to call the police. Camacho grabbed the phone from the child and threw it on the road. The phone shattered.

The woman suffered a 1.5-centimeter laceration on the head. She also had bruising and swelling on the right eye.
