Man in jail again, this time for sexual assault
A 20-year-old man who was arrested in October for indecent exposure was arrested again last week, this time for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl and a woman in separate occasions on Saipan.
Travis Gumataotao Villagomez was arrested on charges of two counts of sexual assault in the second degree, two charges of disturbing the peace, and one count of contempt. His bail was set at $25,000 cash on Friday; preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 7 at 9am.
Assistant public defender Tillman Clark was appointed as counsel for Villagomez.
A police officer responded to a home in Chalan Laulau last Nov. 28 after receiving a disturbing the peace call. The officer met a grandmother, who stated that Villagomez touched the privates of her two granddaughters. Villagomez was arrested.
Police detective John Anthony Hofschneider stated that based on his investigations, the 16-year-old girl and her family were swimming at the Grotto last Nov. 20.
The victim said that Villagomez, who swam behind her, touched her right side. Villagomez also later rubbed his privates against her. The girl told Villagomez to move away.
Last Nov. 27, while attending the opening of the Christmas Village in Susupe, the 16-year-old girl and a woman were walking around the place when Villagomez, who was with his girlfriend, allegedly touched the woman’s butt and then slapped her butt twice.
Hofschneider said the 16-year-old girl told police that Villagomez has been touching her inappropriately since she was a 2nd grader. She never told anyone about it as she was scared.
Villagomez was also identified as the suspect of an incident near Saipan Southern High School, where he exposed his privates to a student and invited young girls into this vehicle for a “sex party.” Villagomez posted bail in that case. The case is still pending in court.
