Man in meth case released on $1K bail
A man who was arrested for allegedly trafficking and possessing methamphetamine or “ice” has been released from the Department of Corrections after posting $1,000 of his initial $100,000 bail.
Dean Troy Manahane, 39, who is facing one count of trafficking of a controlled substance and one count of illegal possession of a controlled substance, was released to his mother and sister after the Superior Court allowed him to post 1% of his bail or $1,000.
Associate Judge Joseph Camacho was initially concerned about releasing Manahane to his proposed primary third-party custodian, his mother, because of her medical condition. However, his sister was proposed as his secondary third-party custodian to ensure that he abides with the court conditions.
According to court documents, Manahane was arrested following two sting operations the Drug Enforcement Task Force did back in 2019.
The first buy-walk operation happened on Dec. 16, 2019. DETF acquired a warrant to conduct a buy-walk operation from Camacho to investigate the reported drug activity Manahane was involved in.
On Dec. 16, 2019, task force officers enlisted a cooperating source to buy $100 worth of methamphetamine from Manahane.
After listening in on the conversation between Manahane and the cooperating source, task force officers followed the source to Joeten Susupe where the exchange would take place. At the scene, task force officers observed a beige pickup truck that was later confirmed to be driven by Manahane. Two baggies that contained a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine were acquired from that operation.
The second buy-walk operation was done on Dec. 19, 2019. Task force officers enlisted another cooperating source to purchase $200 worth of methamphetamine from Manahane, who allegedly met with the source at his home in Koblerville for the exchange. Task force officers later met with the source at another neutral location where they obtained a baggie that contained a crystal-like substance. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.
