Man gets 90-day prison term for ‘ice’ possession

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo handed down a 90-day prison term against a 30-year-old man for possession of less than a gram of methamphetamine or “ice.”

Govendo allowed Nick Valeriano Reyes Jr. to start serving his sentence on Jan. 11, 2016.

Reyes was given credit for time served. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine.

Reyes pleaded guilty on Tuesday to illegal possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea deal.

Reyes was arrested in Dandan last July 7. He was released upon posting $10,000 cash last July 23.

A complaint of a stolen vehicle led to the recovery of the car and the arrest of Reyes and two other persons for alleged possession and smoking “ice.”

Reyes and the car owner’s daughter and her male friend were arrested last June 24 for allegedly smoking “ice.” They were subsequently released, but Reyes was arrested again for illegal possession of controlled substance.
