Man gets 5 yrs. for molesting girl

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman on Wednesday slapped a five-year prison term on Kabirul Islam Molla, a 39-year-old man who molested a 13-year-old girl.

Wiseman sentenced Molla to five years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree and six months in prison for disturbing the peace.

The six-month sentence will be concurrent with the five-year sentence. It means that the total jail term is five years.

Wiseman said although defendant’s counsel sets forth the hardships of defendant’s life, sentencing is not really what is good for the defendant, but rather what is best for the community, and in particular, the safety of children.

Wiseman said that Molla sexually molested the child while she was asleep by placing his hand under her shirt and touching her breast.
