Man files discrimination suit vs Mobil

A man has filed a discrimination lawsuit against Exxon Mobil Corp. and Mobil Oil Mariana Islands Inc. for allegedly not considering him as a field engineering technician.

Nicolas Guy Pohl, through counsel Colin M. Thompson, is suing Mobil for alleged discrimination based on race and national origin.

Pohl asked the U.S. District Court for the NMI to order Mobil to make him whole by paying his back pay with interest plus compensation and damages. He did not specify the amount he is demanding.

Thompson stated in the complaint that Mobil favors employees who are not Caucasians or American.

Thompson said defendants discriminated against Pohl by not hiring him for the position of field engineering technician.

The lawyer said Mobil hired a non-Caucasian, non-American for the job.

Thompson alleged that Mobil falsely certified that there was no qualified U.S. citizen available to take the advertized position of field engineering technician.

He said his client is a U.S. citizen qualified for the job.

“Defendants subjected Mr. Pohl to unwelcome discrimination based on his race and national origin,” Thompson said.
