Police arrested last week a 34-year-old man who allegedly violated a temporary restraining order by forcing open the door to the room of his former girlfriend so he could see their child and pushing her.

Sheldon James Kainoa was taken to Superior Court on Thursday for assault and battery, disturbing the peace, contempt of court, violation of protection order, and criminal mischief.

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $7,500 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Feb. 18.

Police detective Maverick Saures stated in his report that police officers responded to a report of an assault and battery incident in Tanapag on Feb. 7 at 2:42am.

Saures said the victim told police that she was in the bedroom when she heard someone knocking on the door. She ignored it but soon heard Kainoa telling her to open the door as he wanted to see their daughter before he leaves for Guam. She became scared and ignored him. Kainoa then allegedly forced open the door, breaking the chain lock. She pushed him out but Kainoa allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall onto the couch. Kainoa then left.

The victim’s mother, who was on the first floor of the house, saw Kainoa outside the house and checked her daughter, who told her that he came and pushed her. The mother immediately called police.

On June 18, 2014, Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio issued a TRO prohibiting Kainoa from having direct or indirect contact with the victim. The TRO expires on June 18, 2015.
