A man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly firing a gun during an argument with his girlfriend at his residence in Dandan.

Juan Roberto was taken to the Superior Court yesterday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm, and disturbing the peace.

Associate judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Roberto, who appeared with counsel, Rosemond Santos.

Govendo found Roberto’s warrantless arrest to be justified after a detective took the witness stand and narrated the circumstances of the defendant’s arrest.

Roberto allegedly fired an unregistered .22 caliber rifle. The girlfriend was not hit.

A neighbor informed responding police officers on Saturday morning that they heard two gunshots at Roberto’s residence.

Saipan Tribune learned that police officers seized at the scene a .22 caliber rifle, three empty shells of .22 caliber bullets, other unexpended .22 caliber bullets, 9mm caliber ammo, and drug paraphernalia.

Officers also allegedly found about 20 marijuana sprouts behind Roberto’s home.
