On Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at around 10:40am, two women walked into the CNMI Department of Public Safety to file a complaint of stalking at a home in southern Garapan along Beach Road, Saipan.

The victim stated that she had seen a male individual roaming outside her home on several occasions. Worried for her safety, the victim installed security cameras around her home. One day after work, the victim reviewed the security footage, and saw the male individual take one of her undergarments from a clothesline.

On Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, police met with the suspect, who admitted to taking the victims undergarment from the clothesline sometime on Jan. 6, 2020. Police arrested Renato P. Gaviola, and transported him to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained. Following his arrest, a Rule 5 Declaration was processed and signed by Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio on Jan. 11, 2020, at about 11:15am, with bail set at $5,000. The document was served to Gaviola at 11:53am.
This case remains ongoing. (PR)
