Federal agents arrested last week a probationer who allegedly violated several violations of his probation conditions.

Francisco Nakatsukasa Basa was taken to the U.S. District Court Thursday afternoon for his initial appearance.

Basa, who appeared with court-appointed counsel F. Matthew Smith, did not object to being placed in custody pending the revocation hearing of his probation. Assistant U.S. attorney Garth Backe appeared for the U.S. government at the hearing.

Basa’s arraignment will be on May 14, 2012, at 2:30pm.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona issued an arrest warrant for Basa at the request of the U.S. Probation Office.

According to U.S. Probation, Basa failed to refrain from the illegal use of a controlled substance on four occasions since July last year to January this year. He also allegedly failed to show up for drug testing in four different dates in 2011 and eight other dates in 2012. Basa also allegedly failed to participate in a substance abuse treatment program.

In 2006, the federal court sentenced Basa to four years and six months in prison for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams of “ice.” He was placed on five years of supervised probation after serving the prison term. In May 2010, Basa was arrested for choking and punching his common-law wife.
