Police arrested a man who allegedly slapped and tried to stab his common-law wife with a knife shortly after a family’s Valentine’s Day celebration at their residence in Tanapag.
Lee Jesse Omar Reyes, 25, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, criminal mischief, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $25,000 cash.
Detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that Reyes and the victim, along with several family members, were celebrating Valentine’s Day in front of their house on Tuesday night when Reyes accused her of having an affair. Tired of the repeated accusation, the victim told him she was leaving him for good and began to pack up.
Reyes allegedly tried to stab the victim in the stomach but she managed to block the knife with a thick pillow. The knife penetrated the pillow, but not all the way through. Reyes also allegedly stabbed the left rear tire of the victim’s car.
The victim called the police. Reyes left with his brother in another car.
Police arrested the suspect on Saturday night in Kagman III.
