Man allegedly threatens to kill store owner
A tour company driver allegedly threatened to kill a store owner for calling the police after seeing him arguing with another person in Garapan on Wednesday afternoon.
John Machawelug Saimon, 45, was arrested for assault and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho released Saimon on a $1,000 unsecured bond and appointed a private counsel for him.
Arraignment will be on Aug. 11 at 9am.
Police detective Therese S. Kintoki stated in her report that when two police officers responded to a disturbance incident at Martha’s Store Wednesday at 2:14pm, the officers saw the victim, Wyman Rechucher, standing in the parking lot and pointing to the eastern side of the store.
The officers proceeded there and saw a man who was not wearing a shirt and a woman walking behind him. The man, later identified as Saimon, threw an object into the trash bin before the officers approached them.
Rechucher told the officer that he saw a couple arguing outside the store with another man, who walked into the bushy area across the street.
Rechucher went inside the store and called the police. The woman who was with Saimon walked into the store and cursed at Rechucher for calling the police.
The woman then walked back to Saimon. Rechucher said he saw Saimon approach the store’s door and carrying a screw driver.
Rechucher held onto the door as Saimon tried to open it. Saimon allegedly threatened that he would kill him if he finds him outside and that he is not scared of the police.
Police arrested Saimon that same afternoon and secured the screwdriver as evidence.
