A man was arrested for allegedly pointing a handgun at two men he accused of beating up his father, former lawmaker Christopher Leon Guerrero, at a poker arcade in Garapan last weekend.

The two alleged victims, however, stated they assisted Leon Guerrero, who vomited and blacked out, but his son, Hermany Palacios Santos, 38, instead accused them of beating up his father.

Santos was arrested Sunday morning and taken to Superior Court yesterday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $10,000 cash.

Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 15 at 1:30pm.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Santos. Acting chief prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

According to police, Peter Cabrera Camacho and Froilan Mendiola Camacho called for police assistance at 99 Cents Supermarket in Garapan on Sunday at 5:13am.

Peter Camacho told police that he and Froilan Camacho were at the U-Luck Poker in Garapan on Friday and saw Leon Guerrero playing poker since 6pm that day. Every time Leon Guerrero would withdraw his money from the poker machine, he would give Peter and Froilan Camacho some money.

At 3am on Saturday, after giving money to the Camachos twice, Leon Guerrero’s phone rang. He got up and was walking out when he started vomiting. He then blacked out and fell forward, hitting his head on the flower bed, according to Peter and Froilan Camacho.

Peter and Froilan Camacho helped Leon Guerrero and called for an ambulance, which brought him to the hospital.

Leon Guerrero is a former House representative and a retired police officer.

Peter Camacho stated that on Sunday at 5am, he and Froilan Camacho were driving past the MIHA housing when they saw Santos’ vehicle. The two decided to stop by, met Santos, and asked him how his father, Leon Guerrero, was doing.

Santos walked toward their vehicle while allegedly loading a gun with three bullets. Santos went over to the passenger side, where Peter Camacho was sitting and allegedly pointed the gun at his head, accusing them of beating up his father. He also allegedly pointed the gun at Froilan Camacho.

Peter Camacho told Santos he had it all wrong and that they helped his father and even carried him into an ambulance. He told Santos to follow them to U-Luck Poker and take a look at the surveillance camera if he doesn’t believe them.

Froilan Camacho said that Santos got on his vehicle to follow them but later made a U-turn and went back to the housing area.

Peter and Froilan Camacho then drove to 99 Cents Supermarket in Garapan, where they called for police assistance.

At 5:22am on Sunday, two police officers proceeded to Housing M-16, where they met Santos. Santos allegedly threw something to the back of the house. The officers checked the back of the house and recovered a .32 revolver handgun with three bullets in the cylinder.
