Man allegedly chokes pregnant wife and bites her ear and nose
A 27-year-old man allegedly choked his 3-month pregnant wife and bit her ear and nose during an argument after she found him drinking alcoholic beverages again.
Nathan Mario A. Roppul was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $5,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Nov. 30 at 9am.
Assistant public defender Tillman Clark was appointed as counsel for Roppul. Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
Police detective Koji M.N. Taisakan stated in his report that two police officers responded on Monday afternoon to a report of domestic violence at a residence in Susupe.
When the officers arrived, they saw the victim sitting on the floor with blood on her nose. She told the officers that her husband, Roppul, choked her and fled the scene. She told the officers that she had difficulty breathing. Medics treated the victim but she refused to be brought to the hospital.
Police later spotted Roppul near JL Market in Susupe on Monday at 9pm and arrested him.
