Man allegedly chokes girlfriend
A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly choking his girlfriend in As Terlaje.
Vincent Terlaje, 40, was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail.
Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 16 at 9am.
According to detective Buddy S. Igitol, police officers responded to a disturbance call at an apartment in As Lito last Saturday at 2:39am.
Igitol said the officer met the caller, who stated that when he called his cousin on the phone she appeared to have been crying due to a domestic violence incident with her boyfriend, Terlaje.
The officer, along with two other officers, checked Terlaje’s residence in As Terlaje, where they saw the two.
The girlfriend told the officers that Terlaje strangled her minutes prior to their arrival.
The girlfriend alleged that they had argument when her phone constantly rang and he refused to give it to her.
Terlaje also allegedly refused her request to drop her back home.
She got off the vehicle and started to walk from the home’s premises. Terlaje allegedly pulled her hair and shoved her. He allegedly strangled her for a couple of seconds. She felt disoriented and told him she was feeling like she was going to pass out.
She told police it was not the first time that her boyfriend had strangled her.
Police said Terlaje denied the accusation.
