Man allegedly chased people with knife
A man who was visiting his girlfriend later picked a fight with her and then proceeded to chase everybody on sight with a knife near Ever Clean Laundromat in Gualo Rai early Thursday morning.
One of two responding police officers arrested the suspect, Kardus Louis, 29, for assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $5,250 cash. Preliminary hearing is on Dec. 3 at 9am.
Police detective Therese S. Kintoki stated in her report that two police officers responded to the U-Luck Poker area in Gualo Rai on Thursday at 2:35am in response to a report of a disturbance.
When the officers arrived, they saw a 16-year-old boy and a man standing on the outer northbound lane of Middle Road shouting at another man, identified as Louis, who was standing across the street. The man told the officers that Louis was chasing them with a knife.
Louis denied having a knife. The officer handcuffed him and put him inside the police vehicle.
Louis told the officer that he just came to visit his girlfriend and that he does not know why they were mad at him.
While the officer was talking with Louis, the latter’s girlfriend, who was crying and screaming, told the officer to arrest the suspect. The girlfriend said Louis took a knife from the kitchen and threatened to stab her and other people.
A witness told police that Louis challenged everyone to a fight and chased him and other people in the area. Louis allegedly threw the knife in the jungle upon seeing the officers.
