An ex-convict who is allegedly behind a series of car burglaries on Saipan has been arrested, police said yesterday.

Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong confirmed that the suspect was apprehended and is expected to be taken to court today, Thursday. Saipan Tribune opted not to release the defendant’s name until he is taken to court for a bail hearing.

Tarkong said the suspect used the same modus operandi by damaging the vehicles’ rear vent windows.

Tarkong can’t comment whether it was the same suspect who was recently behind the burglary of six cars in Chinatown.

He said the suspect was arrested in connection with a Dandan incident, but possibly also with other similar cases. He said more details would be released today.

Six vehicles parked at B&R Apartment in Chinatown were burglarized early Friday morning and cash, items, and documents were stolen.

The suspect or suspects managed to open the cars by breaking the rear vent windows.
