A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly beating up his girlfriend and pointing a knife at her neck in front her two horrified children at their residence in As Lito.

James Arthur Fuller, 54, a leadman, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

The victim complained of pain to the head, neck, and chest. She can hardly move around as a result of the injuries, police said.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $10,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for April 12 at 1:30pm.

Fuller told the court that he would hire his own attorney. Assistant attorney general Emily Cohen appeared for the government.

Police Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that the victim along with her two children, ages 11 and 12 years old, appeared at the Department of Public Safety Central front desk on Tuesday at 12:55pm to report that her boyfriend, Fuller, beat her up in front of the minors.

Pangelinan said during her interview, the victim stated that earlier that night, Monday, she and Fuller had an argument at their apartment in As Lito.

Fuller then allegedly choked her, poked a knife at her neck, and threw her to their bed. While she fell on the bed, he continued to choke her, slapped her several times, and head-locked her.

When she tried to call the police through her cell phone, Fuller grabbed the phone and smashed it to the floor.

The victim shouted to her children to call the police, but Fuller blocked the door and threatened to punch one of the minors.

The 11-year-old girl yelled at Fuller not to hurt her mother, while the 12-year-old boy was begging Fuller to stop.

Both children told police about how Fuller beat up their mother. The girl said when her mother was standing up, Fuller came from behind and put his right arm around her mother’s neck and choked her.

The girl said Fuller then picked her mother up from the neck and that her mother’s feet were not touching the ground.

Fuller is 5’11” tall, according to court documents.

The girl said she kept on yelling at Fuller to stop, but he threatened to punch her face if she continued yelling.

The girl said while her mother was on the bed, Fuller put his right elbow on her mother’s chest and pressed it down. She said her mother kept on shouting due to pain.

The victim said Fuller used a 7-inch long knife that he would always bring to work.
