A 28-year-old man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend after he could not find the pipe he uses to smoke methamphetamine or “ice” last Tuesday morning. The alleged victim suffered cuts to her right thigh.

Jasmer Dela Cruz Koshiro was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

A $5,000 cash bail was imposed for his temporary release; preliminary hearing is on Dec. 1.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Koshiro. Assistant attorney general Teri Tenorio appeared for the government. Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho presided.

Two police officers responded to a disturbance at a home in Susupe last Tuesday at 7:49am. The officers met with the victim, who appeared to have been crying and had small cuts on her right thigh.

The officers learned that on the evening of Nov. 20, the victim and Koshiro had an argument. The next morning, the victim woke up to her 2-month old baby crying.

Koshiro, who was asleep on the floor next to the bed, where the victim and the baby slept, woke up. As the victim was getting out of bed, Koshiro allegedly grabbed the infant on both legs with one hand and aggressively pulled the baby toward him and carried the baby.

The victim said Koshiro asked her for his pipe and, when she said she did not know, he hit her on the side of her head with a backpack. The victim stood up to defend herself, but Koshiro shoved her, causing her to stumble and collide with an electric fan, which was on. The fan had no front cover, causing small cuts on the victim’s leg.

She left the house and called for police help. She told police that it was not the first time that Koshiro hit her but that it was her first time to report it to police.

She said that on separate occasions, Koshiro threatened to kill her and their baby and burn the house.
