A man allegedly accused his wife of having an affair and slapped her at their home in western Garapan early Saturday morning.

The wife locked the door of their room and barricaded the door with shelves as the husband allegedly tried to open it.

Edwin Bryan Mendoza Jr., 35, was arrested for assault and battery, disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, and false arrest.

Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed yesterday a $10,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Feb. 5 at 1:30pm.

According to police, officers responded on Saturday at 5am to a report of domestic violence at a house in western Garapan, where they then arrested Mendoza.

The wife told police that Mendoza arrived home at 3am, was intoxicated, and accused her of having an affair, waking up their children.

Mendoza allegedly slapped his wife and grabbed her. Another friend came and persuaded Mendoza to stay away from his wife. When Mendoza stepped out of the bedroom, the wife locked the door and barricaded it with shelves. Police then arrived.
