Man, 22, is nabbed for alleged sex with 14-year-old girlfriend
Police arrested early Saturday morning a 22-year-old man who allegedly had sex with his 14-year-old girlfriend he just recently met through Facebook.
Glenn Anthony Mafnas Ruben Jr. was taken to Superior Court yesterday on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho retained the $50,000 cash bail set earlier by Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio.
Preliminary hearing will be on Jan. 5 at 1:30pm. Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Ruben. Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda appeared for the government.
According to police detective Dee Liza S. Udui, she responded to a reported sexual abuse of a minor at a residence in San Roque on Saturday at 1:03am.
During her interview with the girl, the girl said she and Ruben recently became friends through Facebook.
The girl said she left her house last Friday night without telling anyone to meet Ruben at the basketball court behind the abandoned fire station in San Roque.
The girl said after they had sex on a table in the hallway area of the former fire station, Ruben decided to take her home. While they were walking to the entrance of the fire station, two of her cousins saw her and started yelling because they were looking for her.
One of the cousins chased Ruben, who ran toward his house.
Police arrested Ruben at 2:36am that same day.
Ruben allegedly admitted having sex with the girl on Christmas night and that he is aware that she is only 14 years old.
