Devero, who did not play in Makalaro Lang’s 47-58 loss to Oh My J, scored 26 points to put his team back on top of the leaderboard. Makalaro Lang holds a 4-1 record ahead of Oh My J, Hard Kulangot, and Wag Kang Pabebe, which are tied for the second spot with similar 3-1 slates.
The Makalaro Lang main gunner drilled his team’s first basket and continued to cause trouble to Eh Di Wow’s defense all throughout the match. By the end of the first half, Devero had already knocked in 14 points and lifted Makalaro Lang to a promising 42-28 halftime lead.
Makalaro Lang never looked back from thereon, as Devero also drew a lot of help from his teammates. Four other Makalaro Lang players scored in double figures with Ernie Moises tallying 14, Raymond Velasco adding 13, and Errol Peredo and Greg De Leon contributing 10 apiece. De Leon nailed 8 of his total points in the first half to help Devero tow Makalaro Lang to a 14-point advantage, while Velasco made 11 in the final frame, and Moises dropped 8.
Eh Di Wow failed to match Makalaro Lang’s offensive firepower, as only three players broke into double figures for the former and most of its baskets came when the game was already decided. Jerome Reyes led the winless Eh Di Wow (0-5) with his 15 points, while Edwin Santos and Lerio Pagarao chipped in 14 and 13, respectively.
Eh Di Wow hopes to end its skid tomorrow when it takes on Pasion De Amor, which is also on a slide losing its last two games after going 2-0. Four more games will be played this weekend with the Saturday pairings involving Hard Kulangot versus Wag Kang Pabebe and Makalaro Lang against Purple Rain. This Sunday, Oh My J will duel Kidlat in the first match, while Red Rice faces Wag Kang Pabebe in the second tiff.
