Majors All-Star Team gets boost
The CNMI Majors All-Stars found a likely partner as they take their next step in their bid to reach the Little League World Series.
The team, which will be competing in next month’s Asia Pacific Middle East Regional Tournament in the City of Guilin in northeastern China from July 13 to 21, received $5,406 from Skywalker Communications Group. The donation will cover the visa fees of the entire team—14 players, a manager, and two coaches.

Skywalker managing director Dr. Bo Hu made the check presentation yesterday with the donation made possible through the help of Saipan & Northern Islands Municipal Council vice chair and Zoning Board treasurer Alice S. Igitol and former CNMI House speaker Oscar C. Rasa.
Bo said Skywalker chose to assist the team’s trip to China after learning that they have been fundraising to help ease the travel cost.
“The kids need support. We are focused to helping various events in the community, including sports,” said Bo.
“A lot of people in the CNMI love sports specially baseball. We’re always happy and ready to help the community,” added Bo.
The investment group said they strongly believe that businesses should also establish a good working relationship with the community they are in.
“We believe in the principle of responsible investment. Partnering with the community and the government to assist and enhance the economic and social well-being of every people,” Bo added.
Igitol said she and Rasa decided to look for a sponsor in order to help the All-Star team’s trip.
