Japan magazine Madame Figaro Japan visited the Northern Mariana Islands on Nov. 6-10, 2016, to prepare a feature article titled “7 Things to Do in the Marianas.”
The magazine circulates 80,000 print copies monthly and has 4.8 million online page views a month, targeting women in their 20s to 40s who are interested in travel and fashion. The article on the Northern Marianas has an estimated ad exposure value of $200,000, coverage which the Marianas Visitors Authority was able to negotiate for a much lower in-kind support cost.
“Madame Figaro Japan features travel information on hotels, gourmet food, and visitor sites in various destinations, and we look forward to the Northern Marianas being featured in their February 2017 issue,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman.
While on Saipan, the media team photographed at Marpi, Pau Pau Beach, Joeten Hafadai Shopping Center, Mariana Ocean, I Love Saipan, in downtown Garapan, and other sites. Hotels filmed were Aqua Resort Club Saipan and Hyatt Regency Saipan, where the group lodged. A number of restaurants will also be featured, including Hyatt’s Giovanni’s Restaurant, Salty’s, Café at the Park, Casa Urashima, Cha, Surf Club, and 747 Restaurant.
The group was also granted film permits by the Department of Public Lands. (MVA)
