The Saipan MagaLahi Eagles Club, in an effort to extend its community service through sports, team building, and health and wellness, conducted a basketball clinic in partnership with MadFlex Sports last Nov. 19 at the Mt. Carmel School Gymnasium.
The event was open to children and adolescents aged 10 to 16, and 50 pre-registered children and adolescents participated.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles is the first born fraternal socio-civic organization in the Philippines. It is a movement, an idea launched by the founders to nurture the fire of brotherhood and provide service to the community. The SMEC is a certified TFOE club founded in 2021.
MadFlex Sports was founded by Dexter Tenorio with his son Derek in January 2020. It’s a non-profit organization operated by Tenorio and two other partners. It was established with the aim of alleviating the anxiety of children caused by the pandemic and training budding athletes in a simple way.
The four-hour activity program was welcomed by the SMEC Eagle president Marlon Regaton, followed by an introduction of MadFlex founder Dexter Tenorio. Resource speaker, Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation president James Lee, delivered an inspirational message to the participants.
The basketball clinic was able to achieve its objectives of improving the skills learned in basketball, promoting the camaraderie and physical well-being of each participant. The program included exercises and coaching on body strengthening and conditioning, dribbling, and shooting and concluded with a demonstration game.
Certificates of participation were given out and an SMEC token was given to MadFlex Sports.
