Mafia, Voyagers complete Bud Light Cup q’finalists
The Route 33 Mafia and Smoke Pub Voyagers defeated their respective opponents to complete the quarterfinalists in the Bud Light Cup.
Route 33 downed the Naked Fish Darrty, 9-3, while the Voyagers edged the Sand Juvy Predators, 9-7, in a pair of race-to-nine matches last week.
The Mafia then faced the Voyagers in one of the four quarterfinal games yesterday, but results were unavailable at press time. The Sand Juvy 101 Proofers battled sister team Snipers, while the Sakude clashed with the Jokers Warriors, and the Huntlaw played against the No Fear, in other pairings.
The winner of the Mafia-Voyagers game will take on the victor of the 101 Proofers-Snipers matchup. The winning team in the Sakude-Warriors faceoff will collide with the conqueror of the Huntlaw-No Fear bout.
The Mafia, which topped the regular season, is among the favorites to win and could move closer to clinching the Bud Light Cup A division crown if it wins in the semifinals on July 13. The finals is set on July 20.
Meanwhile, Jokers-backed teams were triumphant in four other divisions in the Bud Light Cup with the Destroyers claiming the Masters crown and the Darty Flights topping the Chichirika C class.
The Spartans, Atarashi Boyz, and Latte Sparts ruled the Kingfisher, Tuesday B, and Thursday Fanihi B divisions, respectively. The Sand Juvy Vicious Darties won the Ladies crown, while the Jonny’s Kyodai was the Thursday Flame Tree B champion.
Awarding for the regular season and Bud Light Cup will be on Aug. 16 at the Pacific Islands Club Charley’s Cabaret, starting at 10:30am
