With the dry season upon us and the CNMI experiencing a very dry season, the Luta Cares Community Outreach Group of Volunteers recently donated Gatorade to the Rota Fire Department.

Rota had been hit by forest fire incidents lately with residents seeing their native land set a blaze almost daily.

The Rota Fire Department staff had been tirelessly working round the clock battling each case knowing that tomorrow they’ll be called upon to risk their lives to prevent the further destruction of native vegetation.

Julie Ogo-Manglona, local organization Luta Cares founder, learned that the heroic members of the Fire Department, Commonwealth Ports Authority, Department of Public Works, and the Department of Public Safety deal with the fires almost daily.

As a result, Luta Cares sent Gatorade containers to Rota for the staff to replenish nutrients lost through the hardships of their physical activity

“This small token is our organization’s way of saying thank you for putting your lives on the line. Any help at this point is appreciated. We pray for each fireman’s safe return home to their families as they continue to fight for public safety,” said Ogo-Manglona.

To those who want to do their share and donate, call Dennis Mendiola or Ron Ogo at the Rota Fire department at 532-3736. (PR)
