Low-cost spay/neuter clinic for dogs in January
The Saipan Mayor’s Office, working with the Humane Society International and Saipan Cares for Animals, will be offering a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for dogs during the month of January.
“We are pleased to be able to host this clinic as a humane way to control the pet population on Saipan,” said Mayor David M. Apatang. “We urge dog owners to take advantage of this opportunity and have their pets spayed and neutered.”
The clinic will be held Mondays to Fridays during the month of January, and will be limited to 10 dogs per day. The location of the clinic will be at the Animal Shelter in Lower Base, down the road from Sparkle Clean.
“Spaying and neutering dogs is beneficial to both our pets and our community,” said Spencer Marchadesch, Dog Control Program manager. “It helps to reduce overpopulation and also eliminates your pet’s risk of testicular and ovarian cancers. Dogs that are spayed and neutered are also less likely to roam, which causes a public nuisance and also reduces the risk of automobile accidents. It also decreases aggressive behavior, including dog bites.”
To reserve your spot, send an email to Jason Hudy with Saipan Cares for Animals. Hudy will be handling all reservations for the clinic and a reservation is mandatory. You can email Hudy at Jason@JasonHudy.com. He will return your email with a form to fill out to reserve a spot for your dog.
The suggested donation is $25, payable to Saipan Cares for Animals, which will help defray the costs of the clinic.
And as always, anyone interested in volunteering to walk dogs, or interested in adopting a dog or cat is encouraged to contact the Mayor’s Office or Saipan Cares for Animals. You can contact the Saipan Mayors Office at 234-6208 or email Hudy with any further questions, and you can also visit the Saipan Cares for Animals Facebook page.
