In loving memory of Imants ‘Ed’ Klingbergs

Imants ‘Ed’ Klingbergs

Never thought Ed would ever leave us. He was so humble, fun, witty, generous, and eager to help. At every turn and every corner, when we needed help, Ed was always there, standing behind us with a big smile on his baby-like face. When he was not helping others, he would be busy making something here and there.

And the last something he tried to create was a two-story concrete house on a hill overlooking the Philippine Sea. He envisioned, one day, when he could not walk anymore, he would sit in front the house drinking beer and enjoying the sunset and the island flavor.

He started the project in his late 60’s. Inch by inch, he cleared the wooded land to build the foundation. Brick by brick, he hauled them up to the hill from Beach Road. Stings from insects did not bother him. Noise did not slow him. As soon as the light broke, the chainsaw was fired up. Before the moon and stars rose, another day bid farewell. Clouds sheltered his sweat. Wind dried his clothes. Passing birds whispered in his ears.

A staple in God’s eyes. An enchanting spirit. A role model and a dear friend. Rest in peace. We shall meet again in the realm of our spirit. You are deeply missed.
